Logons to the member’s area (link in the menu on the left hand side) have been sent out to all 2006 paid members of the Gosforth Road Club (GRC). If you have not received a username and password please contact either Austin or Peter and we will try to sort something out. The member’s area is an enclosed area and can only be viewed by people who have an active logon. Currently it consists of a forum where GRC members can communicate on various topics if they wish. Hopefully in the near future various other features will be added to benefit the club members. Any suggestions on additions to the area are greatly received. Access to the member’s area relies on paid membership to the GRC. This means that if payment is not received for 2007 and onwards then relevant accounts may be temporarily locked. Please logon and say hello.

After New Year training will move up a notch. The harder Sunday ride will now be straight round with no cafe stop so come prepared. That means you and your bike. Energy drink in your bottle and some food in your back pocket are recommended. Make sure your bike is ready for it too.
The idea is that the group works together so a faster tempo on the flat and back off in the hills. Tell those in front if you see other riders around you struggling. Don’t wait for someone else to say it. Look out for your mates and they will look after you. Remember what goes around comes around. The stronger riders can turn round at the top of a climb and help out the others who are struggling.
There will continue to be a ride for those who do not want to ride at the same tempo as the training group. This group will do 60/70mls with a café stop. Average speed will be about the same as a Saturday or possibly a little faster but will include more hill work. It will suite those who want an easier week or are not yet up to going with the faster group. Both groups will continue to meet at 9.30am on a Sunday.
